WHAT I HEARD ABOUT IRAQ (A cry for 5 voices)
adapted for the stage by Simon Levy from the article “What I heard about Iraq” by Eliot Weinberger
September 11th, 2005 - Directed by Jill Navarre
SYNOPSIS: This presentation is made possible by Deborah Lawlor, theatre director and Auroville pioneer: Here’s what she wrote when she sent along the script:
“My theatre-partner, Simon Levy, has devised an important piece that will have its world premiere here (in Los Angeles) on 9/11/05. It is based on an article by Eliot Weinberger that appeared in the London Review, and has since circulated widely on the internet. It is written for 5 actors only, and it can either be done as a reading, or it can be staged. We've been sending it to theatres across the U.S. and in Europe (a German theatre, among others, has committed to doing it). So, it will be read world-wide, on or within a few days/weeks of September 11th. I'm hoping that a presentation can happen in Paris and one in Auroville as well.”
